No Natural Affection

"For know this, that in the last days, critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves....having no natural affection."
- 1 Timothy 3:1-3

Today here in Louisville, a 20 year old woman was charged with the murder of her own baby.    While visiting someone at the local women's prison this morning, she went into the restroom and gave birth to a full term little baby girl, who was perfectly healthy.  She then stuffed toilet paper in the baby's mouth until she suffocated her to death.  She dumped the baby in the garbage can and threw paper over her to try to hide what she had done.   She was later arrested and is now being charged with murder.

My heart aches for that child.   My heart aches for the millions of people out there who struggle to have a baby of their own, who endure the sometimes years of hormone therapies, shots, and countless disappointments all in hopes of creating a perfect little life.  My heart aches for the millions of people who go through the emotional task of trying to adopt a child.   My heart aches when I think of how many people could have loved that child.  Mostly, my heart aches for this world and how disgusting the people in it have become.

A mother is supposed to love and cherish their child.   A mother is supposed to put their child's safety above all else, even their own life.

Even animals instinctively care for their young.    It's natural.

Is this what this world has come to?
More and more we hear of people who behave in a manner that is not even befitting an animal.
It's sick, satanic, and utterly appalling.

I suppose it's true, that so many in this world truly have "no natural affection."   And I for one, hope that these are the last days of it.

I will remember that baby girl.

  2. I heard it in the news often. A lot opf women killed their baby and left them in dumpsters. I can't help crying each time. How dare they to do such thing? That's pretty much unforgivable.

  7. Stories like this make me sick. Especially when you know people who would do anything to have a child. These sickos don't deserve to have children, I really don't understand how you can do that to such a tiny helpless thing.

  8. Sickened. And so true about so many people and couples longing for a little beating heart. And she choose to stop it. Lord have Mercy! Hard to fathom.

  9. I heard this story on the news today, but didn't get to pay close attention to the story. So, so sad and senseless! It's horrible to think that someone could be so selfish and cruel. Was she uneducated about her options early in pregnancy? Had she ever heard about adoption?!

  12. I also am just so appalled at the depravity that some human beings are stooping to. Do we really still call them human? Not sure. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those innocent who can't defend themselves against such cruelty. Here's hoping the rest of us can make up for it somehow by our small acts of kindness.
